禅海和尚が安全な道を作るため資金を集め、石工たちを雇ってノミと槌だけで30年かけて1750年に一期工事を完成させた日本初の有料トンネル。 It is the first toll tunnel that a Buddhist monk Zenkai made up in 1750 for saver traffic to collect donations and to hire masons only with hammers for 30 years.
